In August 2022, Tayport FC was licensed by the Scottish Football Association and was thus able to participate in the Scottish Cup. Dreams of getting through the qualifying and early stages and maybe getting a home tie against a Premiership giant (aye, right!) were dashed at Cardenden by a defeat to Dundonald Bluebell.
In season 2023-24 a narrow win over old adversaries Hill of Beath Hawthorn was rewarded with a home tie against Highland League Championship runners-up Buckie Thistle. However, for Tayport the challenge proved too great. Buckie, though, went on to make good progress until eventually being eliminated by Celtic who would go on to win the Cup.
